Thank you so much for this. I especially appreciated Brad Jersak encouraging us to pray for miraculous healing knowing you may be disappointed. But still it’s good to pray in solidarity for people.
Katie, the part where Brad discussed the two ditches, and having one-third of his church members in full-time care due to disability was a word that was so healing to me. My son needs full-time care and is severely mentally challenged (and has other physical problems as well). I have suffered with him and I am honored to suffer with him. And I also continually pray for him too, especially when a new area of concern arises for him. I have never heard anyone express this like Brad. That we can pray and also know that we can be disappointed, but God is with us regardless and through it. Bless all of these men. Amen.
Thank you for sharing your story. What a work of love you are doing. Brad's words were so helpful. I have one friend whose dad can no longer swallow a one friend whose husband can't either both due to Parkinson's. I pray they both will be able to swallow again. It feels foolish but still I pray, if that makes sense. And what you and Brad say makes so much sense for this impulse.
Katie, it makes total sense. Much love to you and both of your friends, their Dad and spouse. We are all in this together. I feel ashamed at times thinking for many years my salvation was only about me personally, my personal relationship with Jesus. That is part of it course but it is also about everyone because God is working for everyone's good. Chris has definitely opened my eyes to that, and Brad too. I found all of their teachings while sheltered in place with my son during the first full year of the pandemic. I am going to join you in prayer for your friend's dad and your other friend's husband. For the improved ability to swallow, for there to be provision, there to be help in whatever way that looks like. We tell God the things we hope for. And I hope for that. 💕
Loved this discussion. I wonder if Bessel Van Der Kolk would ever come on your show to discuss both theological trauma (the types of religious faith he’s seen traumatize people) and a theology of trauma (the types of faith that could heal and restore people)
This is healing. Thank you. ❤️

Man, I would love to hear that!
What depths could be unearthed in that interdisciplinary space
