The idea that “you can go home again” is so comforting to me. I’ve often been terrified of those Hebrews passages that implicate that possibly repentance is impossible after some point, or something along those lines. Not sure how that fits in, but I trust that whatever it means, it doesn’t mean you can’t go home again.

why is God hiding is face filed us with fear? We cannot look at his face with trepidation and exposing how sinful we are. We don't want to look at someone face because we know our
sin was against them. My dog does not look me in the face when he knows he is trouble and goes into hiding.
