This, both Parts 1 & 2, was such a timely and welcome conversation for me. While I do appreciate and respect the disciplines of the Tradition, and the priestly canon that must be adhered to, I also cannot begin to describe the deep sense of rejection that I felt upon being turned away from receiving the Eucharist during a Mass that I was attending. To have such yearning for the merciful nourishment of Christ met with decline was difficult. Yes, I knew this was a possibility, but I still felt it. I have also attended Mass and not had this happen, but was well received. One thing that I appreciate in the Orthodox setting is the Antidoron that is offered "instead of" the Eucharistic gifts. This takes the edge off a wee bit. Anyhow, thanks for this Bishop Chris! Oh, and question: can you recommend some good sources (books?) on Justin Martyr? Grace, Peace, and Much Good!
