Halfway through - Stop, just stop taking my breath away; no wait, let me savor that sweetness of Jesus giving us, submitting to us this healed word. Lord have mercy, we are so fallen away from what is truly life. Christ, the healer, drawing the poison out.

Such a beautiful and powerful conversation to guide us, with wisdom from above, in the apostolic call to "grow up in every way into Him who is the head, into Christ" (Ephesians 4:15), as we move through this season "until the time of universal restoration of all things that God announced long ago through His holy prophets" (Acts 3:21). Thank you Melissa, Chris, and David!

I am so grateful than you (all) have tackled this passage in such a stunningly beautiful, Christologically informed, way. It made me weep and sing at the same time. Having spent 27 years of priestly ministry wrestling with this with a lot of sweat and not much light, it’s like a window being thrown open to fresh air. I kind of hope you might like to tackle another seriously tortured passage sometime (1 Tim 2:11-15) although i am aware there is a fair bit of scholarly debate about whether Paul wrote the latter.

Just beautiful, but that quote from Willie Jennings!!! "Like obsessed gardeners fixated on one beautiful plant, too many churches have turned their entire common life into nurturing couples, facilitating the happiness of families, and turned the trajectory of discipleship for young and single people toward getting married." I've been feeling this reality for years, having been single, married, and single again and now in my senior years, after a couple of decades in "full-time" ministry.

The Willie Jennings passage. Wow. A thunderbolt! May it ignite a repentance in our churches 🙏
