THIS WEDNESDAY EVENING, August 10th, 6-9PMCST, the Institute is offering (via ZOOM) one last summer elective.
Here’s a quick overview of the questions I’ll be addressing:
We know to affirm it as “sacred Scripture,” but many of us still struggle mightily with reading the OT—not entirely without reason!
So many outlandish stories.
Woefully outdated—and seemingly oppressive—rules.
And most of all: the unrelenting violence—much of which is either attributed to or at least sanctioned by God!
But what if these texts do not in fact say what we’ve assumed they say? What if they “work” entirely differently than we’ve been told they do? What if they’ve been created to be for us exactly what we need, not only so that we can know God truly but also so we can become true as he is? What if they are, through and through, the Word of God—not only words about Jesus but also words from him? What would that mean for us? How would it change the way we relate not only to the
BibleScriptures but also to God and our neighbor?
These are crucially important questions, I believe, so I hope you’ll join us if you can. Even if you can’t jump on live, you will have access to the recording if you sign up.

P.S. Whether this is something you can swing or not right now, please do say a prayer for our study. Pray that the Spirit will brood over our time together, enlightening the eyes of our heart and giving us, in the language of Ephesians, a spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that we can know the incredible hope that has been opened for us by the unbounded creativity of God.

This lecture was so beautiful - showing how easy it is to miss the 'small details' that really tie the BIG picture together and provide keys to revelation of a bigger message. God: bigger, wider, fuller, loving-er, closer, beautiful-er than you could imagine!
Hoping there is a recording for further study! Thank you!
